    The Story Behind Schmidtness

It's about more than just the weights.

Get to Know Me

My name is Matthew Schmidt. I'm the sole propitiator of Schmidtness. I've been bodybuilding for the past 4 years and I've managed to gain 40+ pounds of muscle in that time. I work as a plumber in the Sacramento area, in my free time I work on writing various informational bodybuilding articles to give people the knowledge they need to build their dream body and feel better about themself physically and mentally.

My Story

My goal with Schmidtness is to give simple and free information about how to build muscle effectively. When I first started to workout I didn't know a single thing. All I wanted was to get shredded six pack abs because I thought that was cool.

So, what did I do to get those abs?

I trained my abs 3 days a week, for an hour at a time. Then trained my upper body 2 days a week for another hour each.

Now if you have much fitness knowledge, you'd notice two problems with my split:

  1.     Training abs for 3 hours a week will NOT make your abs noticeably visible.

   2.    I did not train my lower body at ALL.

But I didn't know any better at the time, because I lacked the information I needed to actually get those six pack abs I wanted to badly.

It was only a year and a half later that I finally learned the right way to get abs and train effectively. I now do a PPL/Arnold split every week, and I only train abs 10-20 min a few days a week.

My Goal

Since It took me so long to learn how to actually train my body effectively, I missed out on a lot of potential gains during my first year or more of my fitness journey.

Yes, I did gain knowledge through my trial and error experience. But if I would have been training optimally since the beginning, my body would have been so much more developed. AND I could have taken more advantage of my "Newbie Gains".

So that's why I started Schmidtness. To give people simple and effective information to start their fitness journey. So that other people don't have to waste time figuring out what works and what doesn't.

Working out should be simple. There is no shortcut, or easy path to get to your goal. But being educated with the right information is the first step in feeling better about yourself and getting your body looking better than ever!
